Welcome to GENPARENT

The GENPARENT project applies an inclusive, internationally comparative, multi-methods approach to families in order to study the division of care and work and its career-related consequences. We focus on the transition to parenthood in different-sex and same-sex couples in four Nordic countries; Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland; the Netherlands and the US. The analyses draw on unique, population register data and surveys, as well as longitudinal, in-depth interviews with couples.

This project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. ERC Consolidator Grant (No 771770) to principal investigator Marie Evertsson. It builds on a collaboration between the Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI), Utrecht University, the Netherlands (UU), and Yeshiva University (YU), the United States with Eva Jaspers (UU), and Silke Aisenbrey (YU) as senior team members.
