General aim

To study to what extent resources/class positions are associated with the resources/class positions of the parents.

Strengths

* Serious attempts to measure permanent income for both generations
* Inclusion of measures of personal traits
* High level of specificity i) The shape of the income association – is the association symmetrical in the sense that low incomes tend to give low incomes as much as high incomes? ii) Disaggregated measures of class – micro classes
* Large N in combinations with unique high resolution measures of education allow for extraordinary analyses of the mediating role of education in intergenerational transfers viz-a-viz direct effects of social origin.
